The Asda Token Scheme

Shoppers in the Asda store, Weston super Mare have rallied round to support local people who are experiencing sight loss.

They selected Vision North Somerset as their chosen charity to receive the green tokens, which Asda promote as part of their commitment to the local community.

Asda Community Life Champion, Claire Virgo presented a cheque for £200 to Volunteer Co-ordinator Michele Blake and volunteer John Meikle, who is himself registered blind.

We are always grateful for support from our local community. Thank you Asda for this opportunity.

St. Monica’s Trust

Vision North Somerset is always grateful to Trust Funds and other organisations that support us.

This is especially so when we need to raise money for our infrastructure – for example, an effective computer system. We need to stay in touch with our service users by sending out information and regular newsletters to keep them up to date, manage confidential records and enable access to digital technology.

The St Monica’s Trust has donated over £8,000 so we can update our system and continue to provide an efficient and effective service to the people that need our help.

Weston Lions Club

Thank you to Weston Lions Club for a generous donation of £500 towards a specialist piece of equipment – an Electronic Magnifier.

This stand alone piece of kit enables visually impaired people to magnify print and pictures, enabling them to see photographs, read the TV pages, check bank statements and read other personal correspondence.

We need to raise another £1,500 to purchase this amazing machine and you can help by clicking on our donate button below.

Marks and Spencer

Vision North Somerset is delighted to have been chosen by Marks and Spencer in Weston super Mare as their charity of the year.

We invited M&S staff to visit our Resource Centre to learn about visual impairment and what it means to have sight loss by trying on some simulation spectacles.

The simulation specs give an idea of the effects of different types of sight loss.

M&S staff are busy raising funds on behalf of our charity over the coming months and we wish them the best of luck. We hope they have a great deal of fun too!
