People living in North Somerset are usually referred to the Weston General Hospital Eye Clinic or the Bristol Eye Hospital.
At Weston General Hospital Eye Clinic:
Trained volunteers are on hand at Eye Clinic sessions, some of whom are visually impaired themselves, to tell you about the help that is available for people with sight loss.
Information leaflets are available in large print or on CD for you to take away and consider. These can be made available in other languages if required.
There are some aids and equipment on display, which the volunteers would be happy to show you.
If you need help straight away you can ask for your details to be sent direct to Vision North Somerset and you will be contacted as soon as possible.
Any questions you may have about treatment, transport to hospital, appointments etc. should be addressed to the medical staff.
Bristol Eye Hospital
Medical staff can answer your questions about your specific sight conditions and you can ask to speak to the Eye Clinic Support Nurse if you need further help and advice. Any member of staff can make a direct referral to Vision North Somerset if you ask them to do so.
If you are certified as sight impaired or severely sight impaired, then the Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI) will be sent directly to Vision North Somerset from both hospitals. You will then be contacted by our Registration Officer to complete the registration process.
